November 28

As we head in to the Christmas season, I look back over the past year, and in spite of personal challenges and hardships, I am grateful for so many blessings that God has provided: my health (down 45lbs!), my job, my family, my home, my friends.

So many times as I walk to and from work, I see those less fortunate than I, huddled in corners trying to keep warm and dry and survive from day to day. Many days I give the change I have in my pocket to them as I pass by, but it never seems enough - yet to them, it could be invaluable, providing them with a meal, a place to sleep for the night, or just comfort in the fact that they were noticed, and for a moment loved.

I encourage us all to consider our generosity to others this holiday season. Yes, the financial world at large is struggling, yes our investments and costs of living seem to constantly be at odds with one another, yes there's many things we "want" for ourselves; but when was the last time we truly went without the basics of living? Without a meal, without clothing, or without a roof over our heads?

There is always someone worse of than we are - so I encourage you to share a bit of the blessings you have with someone you normally would not share with. Give the gift of love to someone this week: a smile, an old jacket, an old umbrella, $10, or whatever is in your heart to pass on to another.

"I thank You now Lord, for the recent blessings I have received and for the blessings yet to come, because I know You are not done with me yet. Help open my eyes to someone else in need that You would have me help. In His name I pray, Amen."

I also have a heart for the homeless. They all have an amazing story and I to give them what I can.
I have been walking like crazy. I am ready for more miles. I will look for a 5K over the holidays.
Take care and keep blogging. Mary Kay
